The Name: It’s just a silly pun. Shumon’s last name (and Nadia’s soon to be last name) is Rahman. RahmCom sounds like Rom-Com as in Romantic Comedy. I will never admit how long it took us to come up with that. Just go with it.
The Hashtag Concept: The hashtag allows us to easily find any photos people post online. If you would like to post something on any social media regarding our wedding, we ask that you include #RahmCom in your post. We will be using this hashtag when we post things as well. If you would like to see what we and others have posted on social media, simply search for #RahmCom and everything from our wedding will pop up :) It's a fun and easy way for us to look back at our wedding day. Pretty neat, huh?
Yep!
Hold on there, cowboy. Normal wedding attire will be just fine :) Certainly not a black tie affair but we know you all look so great dressed up so show off a little.
Liberty View Farm has well manicured lawns and paths to walk on. You will not be roughing it.
That being said, the wedding will be outside...in August. Dressing light and leaving your irreplaceable or delicate dress shoes or heels at home may be a good bet.
Absolutely! Our guess is that about ⅓ of guests will be wearing traditional Bengali attire while ⅔ will be wearing traditional “western” attire. There will be several guests who are not Bengali (Nadia’s family and friends) wearing lehengas, sarees and other traditional Bengali/Indian attire. If you’ve ever wanted an excuse to wear one of these beautiful dresses we would love for you to do so. No matter what you decide, know that you will be in good company :)
FYI: There are plenty of different types of Bengali/Indian dresses (Lehenga, Saree, Gowns, Suits, etc). If you need any help or have any questions, please let Nadia know and she can point you in the right direction. There are also plenty of online stores she can direct you to.
The party will go on! We have a large tent to eat under and a barn to dance in so all will continue. But again, you may want to leave any shoes afraid of mud at home.
We hired professional photographers, silly! They will be taking pictures the entire time. We ask that you do not take any photos during the ceremony or during speeches. The photographers will be taking pictures of guests during the ceremony and we'd love to have nice pictures of all of you without cell phones being up in the air :)
That being said, we love pictures so anytime other than the ceremony and speeches, feel free to take as many pictures as you like! And don't forget the hashtag! #RahmCom
